Preparing for your newborn session
"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." Elizabeth Stone
Thank you so much for allowing me the amazing and rewarding job of photographing your new little one in his/her first few days of life. Children are such a blessing and I am truly honored that you have chosen me to capture this precious time in your family’s life.
My studio is located at 12620 Renton Ave S, Ste 4, Seattle WA 98178.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Please feed your little one just prior to arriving for your scheduled session.
Be prepared for the session to last between 2-3 hours.
The easiest way to ensure a sleepy baby is the willingness to nurse/bottlefeed off and on. If you can, bring a "soothie" pacifier. It's the bendable, green/blue/orangish one, that won't leave marks. However if you really prefer that we not use one, that’s fine as well!
Parents, you are a big part of the show! Photographing the connection between you and your baby is one of my all time favorite things.
Dads: You can really not go wrong with a neutral colored shirt and your favorite pair of pants/jeans.
Moms: Loose-fitting tank tops in a neutral color and simple design will photograph nicely. You will also have access to a selection of items at the studio which you are welcome to use. Please pay special attention to your nails as your hands will make their way into the images.
Also, rest assured, I aim to photograph using flattering angles and light to bring out the natural beauty in your family.
Including older brother/sister(s) in your newborn’s portraits is the perfect way to document this fleeting time in your lives.
Sister(s): Wraps are available that act as the perfect top, or you may bring along a simple top in a neutral color.
Brother(s): A pair of jeans and simple t-shirt is timeless, please no distracting patterns or character t's.
A few additional thoughts:
On the day of your session, try to keep your schedule open. We want you to be relaxed and not have to worry about rushing out the door. Be sure to have a light snack or meal prior to your session.
If siblings plan to be included in the session, it is recommended that once their part in the session is complete that they have a designated person available to take them out during the remainder of the session. This helps to keep a calm and peaceful environment for your new baby and for a smoother session. If leaving is not possible, by all means - it is ok to stay. My wish is for everyone to feel as comfortable as possible. You may consider bringing something to help keep them occupied.
It is my hope that you come feeling at ease and relaxed. I am truly honored to be able to document this incredible time in your lives and look forward to getting to know you and your sweet baby!
